All About Multiple Intelligences
Harvard psychologist Howard Gardner, in his book, Frames of Mind, points out that all individuals possess distinct intelligences. He came up with eight different intelligences that are found in children and adults. Every person has their own unique strengths to build on from preferred learning styles, to the things that interest us in our daily lives, and to our career choices later in life.
Dr.Gardner suggests that schools and culture in general tend to focus on Linguistic and Logical/Mathematical intelligences. It is important to recognize that while society places a lot of emphasis on the Linguistic/Logical/Mathematical intelligences, it is still important to pay equal attention to individuals with other types of intelligences: artists, architects, musicians, zookeepers, fashion designers, dancers, and others who make the world a wonderful place to live! (Armstrong, 2000).
For me personally, I am a VISUAL learner.
