Welcome to Mrs.Beauchesne's Grade 5 Class   Greetings! January has been a very productive month for us! The students have been hard at work in all of their subjects. February will be another busy month with report cards looming. The students have two tests to prepare for at the end of February. Check out the science review sheet that is already posted. This outlines exactly what will be on the Science test at the end of the month. Students also have their Math test to prepare for. This will be on multiplication AND division. Next week is Catholic Education Week. The theme is ibelieve, ilearn, ipray. We will be joining together in celebration each morning next week. The celebration starts this Sunday at 11 am here in Church. Bishop Wiesner will be officiating so please join us and invite your family and friends. This promises to be a very fun week for all of the students. We will be going Cross Country Skiing on Monday at 11 am and returning just before school ends. I already have all the volunteers needed for our class.  All fees including rentals will be covered. Those students who have their own skis and passes may bring them as well. This month in Religion, we will be covering Chapter 6, "Doing Good," and Chapter 7, "The Image of God." Both of these chapters cover the Cardinal Virtues. Fifth Graders have well-developed ideas of fairness. They like to know what the rules are, and expect them to be applied consistently. This is the age where students are beginning to take an interest in the problems of the society around them. We will be focusing on, "Doing Good," this month. A couple parents have asked me about, “Apps,” for their child. I have looked into Apps for those who have Iphones/ipads/Mac computers and I have come across a few that sounds great! Apple has recently launched, “I Tunes U,” for the classroom. If you have any of the Mac products, these apps may be worth looking at. Apps: Math Bingo, Math Drills, Math Genius Test, Math Academy, Long Division Drills, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, Mathemagics, Smartr, Elementary Math (More to be posted soon). Mrs.Beauchesne
